Spooky Halloween

From decorations and pumpkin carving to dressed up doggies and handing out candy, Halloween is always a fun time. Bats, crayons, and Harry Potter, oh my! We bought about 500 pieces of candy (and ate a good portion of that ourselves!)

But... Halloween in Naples can be pricey! Take a look at the cost of hay bales and corn stalks- looks like Dad better load up the wagon and c'mon down. The same goes for Xmas trees (stay tuned)...

Celebrating 21 SoBe Style

Mollie turned 21 years old in South Beach, so this old girl played Mother Hen and took the girls out for a night on the town.

It was an experience, that's for sure! Fantastic people watching!

Air conditioning failure

The house was 92 degrees inside when I came from work- boy were those doggies happy to see me! I let them outside... where it was a brisk 89...

Luckily I know a reliable A/C guy to come to the rescue. Thankfully it was just a bad thermostat, so a semi-affordable fix. Another homeowner lesson learned!

My Birthday Month!

Every year gets better! My desk was decorated at work, complete with carrot cake. Then a bouquet of flowers sent from across the world made all the girls swoon.

Henrik was scheduled for an around-the-world trip during my bday month, and called from Russia (or so he said!) the night of my bday party and wanted to know about all the fun we were having. I had friends over for dinner and drinks and when there was knock at the door, much to my surprise, there was my Prince Charming, grinning ear to ear! Somehow he managed a quick 3-day surprise visit, and the timing was superb. Check out the rental that he brought from the airport, haha; only in South Florida could you get a Crown Vic!!

Lots of good times: food, friends, and wine!

Homemade cupcakes!

And seafood paella!

And my new coffee mugs are so cute I just might start drinking coffee!

And my present to myself this year was a new rug for the living room- you can see who else enjoys it!

Thank you all for keeping this princess spoiled, year after year :)

Something about sunsets

Like rainbows, colorful sunsets are quite common in Naples this time of year. And I never grow tired of spending an evening with sand between my toes.

More of the Dome Home

I keep posting images because one day this house won't be there anymore. It is my very favorite spot in all of Florida. How can you not love it, strange as it is?

Take a look at this interesting article in the local news about the history of the house- the photos depict a much different image than what is left today. What a house!

And also this story on the neighboring "pyramid house" that has since washed away.

Another Day in Paradise

Yes, it really does look like this nearly everyday in Naples! September is just beginning to winding down the rainy season, where its still hot and sunny, and just about every afternoon, I can spot a rainbow. This photo was taken through the window on my commute home, between my old neighborhood where I lived years ago and my house now. Simply gorgeous!
