Cohen Comparison

So Ben's birthday is coming up on Monday and to celebrate, we are going to be watching hours and hours of The OC- Season Three; he's been waiting for this since the show was cancelled in February, and lucky for him, I miss it just as much and bought it (on sale of course!) Call me crazy, but I think Ben is Seth Cohen sometimes- check out the comparison below. What do you think?

Live Earth

Check out this website: http://liveearth.org/event.php to learn more about Live Earth which is a worldwide concert taking place on July 7th and broadcast on NBC. Its called a concert for a climate in crisis and its point is to bring awareness to global warming and all that fancy stuff that goes along with it. Anyhow, its put on by Al Gore and I thought everyone should know what's happening. I sheepishly admit that I just heard about it today, so spread the word! I hope you're feeling inspired and will also check out these energy saving tips:

Low-Cost/No-Cost Ways to Save Energy in your Home
(courtesy of the Commonwealth Community Energy Project at Allegheny College)

Appliance Savers:
*Install compact fluorescent bulbs
*Vacuum or brush off refrigerator coils once a year
*Don't keep the refrigerator and freezer too cold--recommended temperatures are 38° for frig and 5° for freezer
Heating Saver:
*Turn down the thermostat at night or when you're not home—turning back your thermostat 10 ° for 8 hours each day will save an average of 7% on your heating bills.
Hot water Savers:
*Turn down your water heater to 120°
*Install a low-flow showerhead to cut down your hot water use
*Repair leaky water faucets to save hot water

New washer no more!

I got home from a long day of summer camp at work, had a beer (or two) and decided to take on the washing machine that's been the baine of my existance for a few weeks now. See, our dryer was on the fritz and when we called the landlord he said he'd just buy us a new one and a new washer to match. We said alright, but when they were delivered, they were of about 1/4 the quality of our fancy ones. Turns out that the new dryer doesn't work either- a "dryer specialist" is coming to check it out since it must be an issue with the vent or something. So anyhow, today, I just lost it and decided that I'd had enough of the new, much less cool, and slow, small, and super loud machine, so Joe and I moved it to the garage and moved the old one back inside. Of course hooking it up should have required a plumber (the first 8 times we tried turning on the water valves, they sprayed everywhere) but we finally got it- thanks to the Red Stripe :) Good times at the ol'house. Brittany is moving out on Aug 1 so we're looking for another roommie :( Will the drama of Naples continue- sure has been a crazy time since I've moved here!

"Ben" a good week :)

What a week! Ben arrived on Monday night and we started this really cool course through the National Association for Interpretation bright and early on Tuesday morning. The class was pretty intense (as in 10hr days for four days) but we did it- we are now officially Certified Interpretive Guides (we hope that means that we'll get paid more at out next jobs!) And plus, it was great having Ben around for the week. We went to the beach and the English Pub, did a little shopping, hung out with Joe and Peyton, just had a grand old time together!

Packin' to head home!

I can't wait to get home! When I moved away from Pennsylvania in 2003, I promised myself that I would never be away for longer than 4 months at a time... and I haven't been home since Christmas! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone, of course, but also just relaxing! Time to pack :)
