Python Capture Training

All in a day's work! Today, I learned how to catch a wild python.

After placing the stick behind its eyes, you grab it with one hand...

And a pillowcase with the other!

Then switch hands in a swift manner, and bag the snake. It really wasn't hard. But my adrenaline was pumping! Check out the video below.

Tortoise Search Party

Now that I'm back from Portland, I'm ready to find my tortoises. They have not been seen in weeks! So I brought my own search party.

Sage led Maverick and Sheba around the yard, taking them to all of the last known locations.

Pups got a little sidetracked with the pet rabbit!

She used her sniffer!

Her wheels didn't stop her from exploring under the bushes. She has always had a knack for seeking Otis.

Sage loved the company!

Andrea's yard is so huge- 1 acre, 73 species of fruit trees! The tortoises showed no sign of themselves. They are in paradise! We will be back!

Tornado!

The weather alert went off on the phone at 4:30 AM. The wind was whipping, and the pups were scared.

It only last about 15 minutes, and we all went back to sleep. I had no idea what had happened to my front yard, or I would've gotten up!

The trees were blocking traffic, and cars drove on my neighbor's lawn to get through.

When I saw the trees had fallen from the front window, I thought oh yeah I'll just go out into the street and drag them off. Uh... no! They were way beyond my means. Fortunately, someone was driving around the neighborhood with a chainsaw for hire. $250 later, the road was open and I was left with a huge pile of debris. Thankfully, the city came to take it away.

I picked up 15 shingles around the yard. Of course when I called the roofer, he told me I should buy a new roof. The insurance company did not agree, so I paid him to patch it.

And it wasn't just me, Judge Judy's private jet had damage, too. Winds at the airport were clocked at 89 mph!

Back home

After more than two months of traveling, and over 8000 miles, it's good to be home!

The pups are exhausted.

But seem to be happy to be back on their home beds.

The next day, they spent some time in the yard, playing, and checking things out, to see what's been happening around here.

I got all the throw rugs back in place and things unpacked and put away. Sheba waited patiently with her ball while Mavie hunted around the yard.

As if the warm sunny days, complete with flip-flops and shorts, aren't satisfying enough, the incredible winter sunsets remind me that they call this place paradise for a reason!

New Year's Eve in South Carolina

Mavie and Sheba were reunited with Bailey! It's always so nice to stay at Susan's on my drives through South Carolina.

She has a new addition to the household since our last visit- this cat was brave! So brave, in fact, my dogs didn't even react!

The reunion continued as I got to Charleston. Great to see Justin, Athan, and Dave! I also saw Michelle, Julia, and Roman throughout the night.

Here I am at Folly Beach on January 1. It was the Polar Bear Plunge & Bill Murray look-alike contest, haha.

There were so many people there! Check out this video I took- these people are crazy!

So are my grad school friends, I can't believe they got in the water when it was so cold. My toes were numb!

On the way out, I saw this amazing hat on a dog like Maverick. I must get one for him!

I met up with Alaina for breakfast on my travel back through Georgia. It's been a few years, but we picked right up where we left off :)
