Kickball Season Finale

This year's kickball was part of the official WAKA League- sanctioned by the World Adult Kickball Association (yes, this really does exist!)

The summer season was short- we ended up 6-1, losing in the championship game. But... I don't remember 5th grade kickball being nearly as fun!

A good time was had by all :)

Williamsburg Visit

I traveled to Williamsburg to celebrate Sarah M.'s 30th bday! We went by trolley on our own bar crawl through Colonial Williamsburg, complete with minute-to-win-it challenges. And who could resist a group photo with a Thomas Jefferson statue?

We also did some wedding dress shopping for Sarah & Jared's big day! And indulged on some fun food, such as a tremendously huge chocolate chip pancake and frozen yogurt bar. I never knew such culinary delights existed!

And last, but not least, we visited Water Country USA- which has been on my bucket list for years now! I went down the most adrenaline-inducing waterside known to man. It's a 75' near-vertical drop. And a major wedgie-maker!

Leader of the pack

Even though he has to wear a raincoat outside during the summer storms, Mr. Maverick is still the leader of the pack. He gets such joy out of being Alpha when it comes to Sister Sheba, Little Bumble, and Blondie Kaia. They are all such sweet doggies, they go along with it.

Turtle Time

What makes waking up at 5:15 am on a Saturday to drive a boat to the deserted, mosquito infested 10,000 islands worthwhile? Baby sea turtles!

We saw several nests and rescued four baby loggerheads, still trapped in their nest.

Because they would probably be eaten by a big fish or bird upon entering the water during daylight, we drove them a few miles off shore and released them in deeper water.

I felt good all day about my civic duty of saving these little squirts and then later I saw a box turtle crossing the road, so I saved him too! He rode in the car, with the pups and I, to Henrik's house, for a peaceful release into the forest.
