Trunk dogs

As I was packing the car for Pennsylvania, Mavie wanted to be sure he was included so, on his own accord, he packed himself in the truck, next to the suitcase.

I laughed out loud and came back with another bag and this is what I saw next:

Not one more thing could fit in that trunk! Such sweet dogs, always wanting to be part of everything. Love them!

Prohibition

Also part of the weekend in Atlanta was a visit to this trendy hotspot called Prohibition. It's set up as a speakeasy from the 1920's and really lived up to my expectations.

First we needed to acquire the password to get in (and it changes daily). How to do that? Ask the bartender next door, of course. But we couldn't just ask, so we had a drink, made some small-talk, and before we knew it, he was teaching us how to make fancy drinks.

Needless to say, we got the password. It was a phone number that we dialed in this old fashioned British phone booth.

The line rang and the wall that the phone was mounted on opened up.

Inside, we were taught the rules and learned they do not serve beer. Only drinks that were popular during prohibition, of course.

I ordered a Dark & Stormy and it was amazing- in taste and technique.

The bartender carefully chipped individual ice cubes from a giant ice block.

We felt very classy at this snazzy place. Their professional photographer even took our photo!

Blondecation: Hotlanta

Shelley and I took a quick girls trip to Atlanta, complete with a stay at the Westin- 51st floor!

The pool was spectacular, with its retractable roof. Very classy accommodation, as always on our Blondecation destination vacations.

We performed our usual bike rental to scope out the area. This time we discovered that a Twinkie bike was not for us, as we nearly killed each other, more than once.

A little sweet-talking with the rental guy, and we got our own bikes to explore Piedmont Park.

Amazing cocktails followed. This one was called Micha Caliente and consisted of: JalapeƱo vodka, verdejo, orange liqueur, cranberry and soda + cucumbers and peppers = a strangely delicious vegetable version of sangria. If you're ever in Midtown, I highly recommend Lure.

We also attended the wedding of Matt & Julie Anne. We drove to teeny, tiny Cedartown, which was closer to Talladega and Chattanooga, then Atlanta. We certainly experienced the Deep South!

It was really great to see Matt, his brother and mother, and to meet Julie Anne for the first time! I got reacquainted with Matt's cronies from West Point and Warren, and we reminisced about our old days at the fair, Allegheny, and North Carolina.

And there was dancing!!

Grown up office

After a gorgeous day in the Ten Thousand Islands, it's time to go back to the office and set up shop.

Megan and I just renovated our offices- wall repair and painting, carpet shampooing, new furniture, the works!

We felt like we were working in a psych ward with padded walls for 2 weeks from our makeshift desk in the center of what we discovered to be a humongous room, once we moved all the junk out.

Now I finally have my diplomas hung up, after 10 and 8 years, respectively. Its much nicer and more productive. Megan says it feels like a grown up office now :)
