House Warming Party

Thank you to everyone for such a great house warming party! I really appreciate all of the thoughtful gifts and good times. The food was amazing (ceviche, black bean hummus, guacamole, heart of palm dip, mac & cheese, plus citrus pound cake, carrot cake, butterscotch cookies, and brownies for dessert!) At one point, I counted 25 cars in the yard! And no party is complete without karaoke, wahoo :)

Clean & Simple

I guess I'm into fall cleaning instead of spring cleaning, since I moved into my house last August, it seems like a good time for an annual deep clean.  I laundered the red cover on the sofa and it looks like brand new!  That took half the day, haha, and then I moved on to the doggie beds- yes, my two dogs have four beds (= spoiled!)  Maverick LOVES things that smell good, and little Sheber-deeber wanted to share in Mav's bliss and he rubbed and rolled.  She rediscovered that tennis ball under the sofa while I was cleaning.  I'm about to retire into my own clean sheets, ahhh.  The simple pleasures :)

Kitchen: pre and post painting

I'm putting together a book of before and after pictures of my renovations and realized what a huge difference there is in the kitchen, much to my delight!  Knocking out the wall made a tremendous difference, then replacing the linoleum with new tile, updating the lighting, and a fresh coat of paint really cheers it up!  I'm planning for new cabinets next... maybe 2012?

Yipes Stripes!

I've always been a big fan of zebras, and now a whole herd of them reside on my dining room wall! I bought the Groupon for LTL Prints months ago, and finally got around to ordering. A few more loose ends to tie up before my housewarming party in two weeks, then I plan to sit back and relax (and let my bank account rebound!)

Fancy Globe

I have been in the market for an old world globe. Online seemed to be the only place to find what I like but shipping was astronomical. And today I got lucky! Craigslist was the place, $20 was the price. It even smells antique!

Mulching the Hedge

Pre: weeding, mulching, and mowing

Mamasita was cracking the whip today!  Santos did it all: He weed-whacked.  He roundup-ed.  He mulched.  He hedge-trimmed.  He mowed.  And he hit my mailbox with his giant landscaping truck.  It flew 30' through the air, just missing my freshly waxed car.  The landscaping looks top-knotch.  And so will my mailbox when I buy a new one tomorrow!  Stay tuned for the potential dramas of "Sarah installing a new mailbox by herself" haha...
Grow, baby hedge, grow!

Meets dog approval- notice Mav is ON the grass (first time!)

Seabean Wall Clock

I put together this giant wall clock to fill an awkward space in the living room. It is 36" across and has nicker beans as the number marks- all picked up on the beach of Keewaydin Island. Pretty snazzy if I should say so myself :)
