Landscaping TLC

I finally realized that I just don't know enough about landscaping in Florida and it was time to hire a professional. Actually, a team of professionals!

We started by adding more hedge plants and some flowering hibiscus.

Before landscapers...

After! Much cleaner!

Here is a close up of the new hibiscus- 20 new plants, in 3 different colors.

Removing the scraggly hedge in the backyard...

And adding a new row of clusia to create one continuous hedge all the way around.

Landscapers working on side yard...

After! My grass will actually get sunlight back there for the first time ever.

These dahoon holly trees keep dying on me.

So they added some clusia hedges in between so as they cease, I can just extend the hedge. They look so tiny, but they are same size as the plants to the right started, 1.5 years ago.

Airport Welcome Dogs

The whole family goes to the airport. Mavie and Sheba just wait patiently as hundreds of people pass by until they recognize someone in the crowd. Then they pop up and wag themselves silly. They get lots of attention there as everyone is surprised to see two big dogs. There is occasional barking when someone walks by with a fru-fru in their purse, but overall they are just quiet and observant.

This trip was to pick up Henrik, but Grandma K is coming soon!

Grapefruit Resurrection?

I had a landscape expert come out to give me a yard analysis. I have a long list of remedies but the hardest one to handle is my dying grapefruit tree. He said it will be a challenge to save it, but I'm gonna try- it was a selling point for me to buy my house, after all.

The first step was to cut off all the dead limbs. And with them came more than 50 fruits! I couldn't make that much juice at once so I separated it into three categories of ripeness and stretched out the 3 gallons of juice a few days.

These tree trimmers are pro's- right up the ladder and into the tree like nobody's business.

In a very short time, I was left with just a trunk.

Now step two is to water daily and fertilize regularly. Crossing my fingers for a resurrection of my beloved grapefruit tree!

Kitchen Curse?

My beloved pizza stone, of which I've baked 1,000 delicious dishes upon, spontaneously combusted while baking a frozen pizza. So sad!

And then... Less than 12 hours later, one of my favorite little-red-plates bit the dust in the microwave! Seriously! I might have a curse on my kitchen!
