Environment Day 2016

This year I got to coordinate the program for the students of the Class of 2016.

We visited the landfill, botanical gardens, and where I work. The top of the landfill is actually a really beautiful vantage point!

I had the pleasure of working with a really great team of people to plan this intense day of field trips, one-year in the making.

We went out on boats to see the Reserve by water, and had a splendid day.

So of course we celebrated our success with our LC '15 classmates at happy hour. Really great to see everyone again. Last year we spent so much time together, and now that we've graduated, we really don't see each other often enough!

Biden House

Here we are at the Biden Bungalow. It's a fancy, off-the-grid house, on an island in the Reserve. Mom and I were there to help host a fundraiser for work.

The property manager took us on a tour to the upstairs bedroom, that overlooks the ocean. They made me sit on the Vice President's brothers bed!

It was cool to see that they have a field guide about the plants and animals that live here, right on the desk, next to the family photo.

We set up this poster to give the fancy people a little education about us.

What a house! Right after this event, the it's going on the market: $5.99 million! Watch a video about the sale and tour of the property here.

Valentine's Day @ the Dog Park

Beautiful morning with my furry valentines!

Sheba is quite a celebrity in her pink chair. Happy girl!

A little sunshine nap is a great way to spend the afternoon. She was tired! She played with the ball for a long time.

Mom and I ordered pizza delivery, and it came in a heart shape!

Mom's visit

Mom's here! The pups and I are thrilled to have her stay for almost 2 months! Her room is cozy in the Florida room.

Of course, we have been to the beach!

And Cape Romano! The Dome Home is way out to sea now.

A gorgeous day on the water, monitoring bird activity at Second Chance Critical Wildlife Area.

Plumbing complete!

This bathroom has been without running water since September 27. Since mom arrives in a few days, I put a fire under the plumber to finish!

I didn't realize once the plumber was through, how much work would be left for me to repair.

He was clever, rerouting the pipes from under the foundation, through the attic, and back into the house.

There were holes everywhere! The living room, dining room, the bedroom, and of course the bathroom.

I just so happen to be getting pretty good at plastering and painting. Can you even tell there was a hole at all?

After the patching, I decided to repaint the bathroom entirely.

And with one project, comes another…

Touching up the flat ceiling was painstaking, so I decided to texture it to match the rest of the house.

What a difference it made to paint the vent white!

Overall, it looks like a new bathroom. Complete with running water!

Rebuilding the hedge

Now that the trees have been removed, I have to fill in the gap!

It looks tiny now, but that's how small the entire hedge began. We can't have the puppies leaving the yard!

Everblades Hockey

I just went to my first professional basketball game last month, and I'm continuing the trend with hockey. Joe and I saw our local team, the Everblades, from a corporate box. Joining us for a photo op were a couple of cheerleaders. When in Rome!
